Teacher Training Entry Requirements

Entry requirements

1.  Degree Qualification

A first degree at classification 2:2 or above.  A first degree comprises 300 HE credits of which 60 must be at Level 6 of QCF. If your degree is from a non-UK university you will need to approach NARIC to gain an equivalence certificate.

If wishing to teach Secondary a large proportion of your degree should be in the subject you wish to teach

2.  A Level Qualifications

Specific A Level grades are not needed.

3.  GCSE Qualifications

Grade 4 in GCSEs English, maths and science, or equivalent

4.  NCTL Professional Skills Tests in Numeracy and Literacy

Preferably these should have been passed prior to interview. However, it is recognised that this may not be possible so any offer of a place on the training programme will be subject to these being passed. You must sit the skills tests for the first time within 8 weeks of any conditional offer being given to you.

5.  School Experience

It is desirable that you have had at least two weeks work experience in a school before starting the programme in September. We can help you with this.  Many of our schools offer the School Experience Programme, details of which can be found at https:getintoteaching.education.gov.uk/

For the School Direct Salaried route, you should have been working for 3 years or more, ideally in an educational establishment.
